We turned out to be so selfish and narrow minded that we are sending a clear message to our children better not to borrow books from public libraries in the case of a police officer came to the door to catch you because you forgot to return.
Do you think too much to ask? With children aged five years and cried when he saw police at the door because he thought he had earned it.
Apparently, his fears are unfounded. According to news sources, “Christopher Anspach was sentenced to ten days in jail for failing to return library books late after a few months and some passing notice.” Christopher mom said they did not receive notification, public Libraries say they are sending them.
But, who cares that a child does not return the books? What we are reduced to a public library was taken to strong-arm the child to return a book? We are very far behind the most studied countries in the world of library education that you want to feel happy that some children still have to read a book.
So what if the library cost us several thousand dollars for books not returned? If, as ABC News reported, the bill Taxpayers Foundation $ 600,000 to study the sex life of squirrels Africa and there are 92 studies of pigeons that we pay, among many other studies such as this, then surely, we can use the money to keep our children’s children go to the library to read books.
It is a sad commentary on our society that our people now reading below sixth grade level. Survey was conducted and consensus is that most adults would want to read the article online if they are short, and to read magazines with pictures, but they do not want to read the text without images. If children see their parents spend more time on the computer and do not read the book, it is possible to emulate their actions.
We have a serious problem in this country. The children turn away from books that support playing video games, talking on their cell phones, SMS, chat, and a million other things that do not require reading. Publishers have stopped taking a chance on new authors and most of the books that they sell reissues of their authors.
The people in this country do not read as they used to, so as a result, publishers will not publish new books as much as before. To verify this point, to walk into a bookstore and count the number of authors of new books are displayed on the shelves of them, particularly in relation to how many books are reissues bestselling author.
And now, public libraries, in their infinite wisdom, sent home by the police to take children’s books borrowed. Do not they realize that if children stop reading this book, there will come a time when libraries will become obsolete and librarians outside the workplace?
Some branch libraries in my city closed their doors, and that’s before sending law enforcement officials to injure the child to return borrowed books. As long as I liked the book, I do not know if I keep reading, as a young five year old, I thought that I would be arrested for not returning the book. And you can imagine a child who was sentenced to ten days in jail for not returning library book ever want to go to another library?
I remember seeing a book in the library of a friend’s house. I picked it up and see the card is inserted into the holder on the back of this book and see that the book was years late. Title of the book “How to Improve Your Memory.”
